The Magic Returned!

The Magic Returned

We did it! Despite torrential rains almost every weekday right before each of our concerts and a troubled economy, SoundMusic returned concerts to Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford.

During our 2009 Summer Season, we had over 6,000 patrons attend our three concerts. They brought their blankets, and lawn chairs, and coolers, and grills and enjoyed picnics on the Great Lawn with views of Long Island Sound. They sat back under the stars and listened to Music “Made In America” by Copeland and Sousa and Coriglian, and Dorak. They were “Swinging Under the Stars” to the music of the Benny Goodman Orchestra. Finally, they closed the season listening to “Mostly Mozart.”

The reviews in the New London Day were extremely positive (2009 Concert Reviews) as were the responses to our Audience Survey (2009 Audience Survey).

There are still a few bills to pay, for us to close out our inaugural season and turn our focus to next year. We encourage you to make any size contribution to SoundMusic. Help us to return under the big tent next Summer.

All are welcome to help us continue the concerts at beautiful Harkness Park and to fill the air with the exquisite sound of live music. Consider getting involved:

  • become a corporate sponsor
  • make a contribution
  • purchase season tickets (check back in February)
  • purchase individual concert tickets (check back in April)
